How to use
The Air Pack materials are intended for use by teachers. The aim was to develop a toolkit of resources in order to help teachers prepare and deliver lessons on indoor air quality problems in schools and measures to improve the classroom environment. It is recommended for use with children aged between 8 and 11.
A memory game and quiz have also been included. With the teachers’ guidance, these two sections can be used directly by the children once they have acquired sufficient knowledge of IAQ issues.
The Air Pack materials are divided into three hotspots:
Indoor air in school
Outdoor air at school
Comfort in the classroom
Clicking on the title of the hotspot will give you an option to find out more about three sub-topics in each one.
Within each sub-topic, the information is divided into information on the topic, lesson plan and factsheets (where relevant).
The lesson plans, which are available as pdf files, contain suggestions for classroom or outdoor activities and topics for discussion on each specific sub-topic.
Where appropriate, additional information is available within the text by clicking on links to pop-up boxes:
In addition to the language choice buttons, on the right-hand side of the screen there are links to:
All topics: where all the materials are available in one place.
All lesson plans and factsheet pdf files on all topics available for download in one place.
A memory game: designed for use by children, providing them with a fun way to access important facts about indoor air quality by finding matching pairs of pictures.
A quiz: designed for use by children to test how much they have learnt in the course of the lessons delivered by their teachers using the Air Pack materials. There are 90 questions in total, and each time the quiz is started, on each individual computer, a random selection of 15 questions will appear.
